Lockpicking
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM both days
Want to tinker with locks and tools the likes of which you've seen in movies featuring police, spies, and secret agents? Then come on by the Lockpick Table, run by Wily, Topy and Klepas.
You will have the opportunity to learn hands-on how the fundamental hardware of physical security operates and how it can be compromised.
The lockpick table is a physical security demonstration and participation area. Visitors can learn about the vulnerabilities of various locking devices, techniques used to expolit these vulnerabilities and practice on locks of various levels of difficulty to try it themselves.
There will also be an opportunity to test out your skill and compete in the first Australian BSides locking picking competition.

By day though, he performs specialised penetration testing, as well as consulting on security, architecture and solutions for a wide range of clients including critical infrastructure, government, and finance.

Topy has run Lockpicking at several Australian conferences previously. His most recent claim to fame was winning the 2015 Kiwicon Lockpicking competition. Living in a warehouse dubbed "the Hack House" he disappears for days at a time lost amongst piles of computers cables and locks. Topy has lived and breathed the security industry for the past 14 years and loved it all.
